In this year of commemoration, Pau is organising a variety of events in honour of the King of France and Navarre who was born in the city.
At Pau Castle, where the future King Henri IV was born in 1553, there will be two exhibitions about his death in 1610: from 31 March to 30 June, “Paris is Worth a Mass!” presents 19 chiaroscuro works painted during the funeral of King Henri IV. From 14 May to 19 September, the second exhibition is entitled “The Assassination of Henri IV: Insights into a Historical Event”.
On 14 May, the anniversary of his assassination, the Conservatoire de Pau will be premiering a contemporary musical work: “The Tomb of Henri IV”.
In the evening, a light show will be illuminating the Castle and telling you its story. Shows will be held every Saturday from 22 May to 28 August, on 25 September, 9 October, 13 November and finally on 11 December.
Other events will be organised in the course of this year dedicated to King Henri IV. Information from the Tourist Office.
