The Grand Theatre

Make the most of your stay in Bordeaux and treat yourself to an evening at Bordeaux's National Opera. Situated at Place de la Comédie in the heart of the city centre, the Grand Theatre is one of the most imposing monuments in the city, due to its elegant 18th century architecture.

This summer, from July 9th – September 4th, the Grand Théâtre itself plays host to a large exhibition on the skills and professions of theatre production. Costume designers, set decorators, sculptors, machine operators, make-up artists… behind the scenes they make enormous contributions to the production of the show, which would never be possible without their talents.

The National Opera offers a varied programme throughout the year including operas, operettas, ballets and concerts. A few examples of what's on the agenda for the coming months:

* September 24th to October 5th – Opera: Carmen, co–production between Staatstheater Nürnberg et Opéra National de Bordeaux

* October 8th – Concert: Aldo Ciccolini

* October 11th and 12th – Dance: Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte-Carlo

* October 15th – Concert: Choir and orchestra in Pigmalion, by Raphaël Pichon

* October 19th and 20th – Dance: The Rite of Spring, Faizal Zeghoudi
