The Bayonne crowd (and what a crowd they are!) is recognised as one of the most passionate, if not the most, in France. Pottoka (pronounced ‘potioka’), the famous mascot of the Aviron Bayonnais club which represents a small, stocky horse (a pottok is a small pony found in the Basque country), needs no introduction, and is on show on match days at the Jean Dauger stadium (also very famous).
